Eleven people have been in indicted in what law enforcement officials say is an expanding probe into tractor-trailer accidents staged in New Orleans, Louisiana, to defraud trucking and insurance companies.


The 11 accused — 10 from Louisiana and one from Arkansas — are charged in a seven-count federal indictment, according to United States Attorney Peter G. Strasser. The charges are: one count of Conspiracy to Commit Mail Fraud in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 371; and six counts of Mail Fraud in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 1341. NEW ORLEANS – Justices of the Louisiana Supreme Court recently voted 4-3 to waive the Louisiana State Bar exam this year as an emergency measure because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The bar exam is a marathon test that law students spend weeks preparing for. It is the final hurdle to clear before they can practice law, and approximately 25% of those who sit for the exam do not pass it the first time they take it. Read more...
