Candidates Respond to Lawsuit Survey

BATON ROUGE – Where do the legislative candidates stand on the need for legal reform in Louisiana? Louisiana voters can find out by reviewing the responses of the more than 60 candidates who completed a survey distributed by Louisiana Lawsuit Abuse Watch (LLAW) and the Coalition for Common Sense (CCS).

Voters can easily access the survey results online at http://coalitionforcommonsense.com.

“We are very encouraged that candidates from both parties and nearly every part of the state took the time to complete our survey,” said LLAW executive director Melissa Landry. “We hope voters will use this and other information to get to know the candidates before heading to the polls this Saturday.”

“We are pleased to see our state legislative candidates show their active interest in civil justice reform,” said Blythe Lamonica, Coalition for Common Sense spokesperson. “Louisiana residents want legal reform, and clearly many candidates agree.”

The candidate surveys are part of an extensive outreach campaign aimed at engaging voters and candidates on important legal reform issues ahead of the October 22nd primary elections.

The two reform groups’ outreach campaign is helping to demonstrate how Louisianans want to improve the state’s legal environment as well as build additional awareness and support for the passage of lawsuit reforms.
